It’s still months away from the arrival of the new 2022 Volkswagen Golf R, but it’s already making headlines. Just recently it was reported that it will come with a new 4MotionĀ® all-wheel-drive system with rear-axle torque vectoring. This new system can distribute up to 100 percent of the rear torque to an individual rear wheel. Compared to the previous Volkswagen Golf R standard 4Motion all-wheel-drive systems that can send up to 50 percent of the engine’s total power to the rear axle.
The Volkswagen press release from March 15, 2021, gives more details on the new system and how it works. Ultimately bringing the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R its top-notch performance. As this all-new Volkswagen vehicle delivers 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, it was apparent a system like this was needed to really uphold this superior amount of power. It’s the most power offered yet for the Volkswagen Golf R.
