What to Expect from the 2018 VW Atlas

Green Volkswagen Atlas in a show room with a lit floor. The new 2018 VW Atlas will be Volkswagon’s first ever third-row crossover in the U.S. In addition to its size, the Atlas will also have new technology, safety, and design features.

Bold Design

The Atlas has been designed with sleek lines and lean sides to give it a sporty look. This big SUV has been fitted with big wheels and comes standard with 20-inch alloys.

Power and Performance

The Atlas comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that gives the driver 235 horsepower and 258 pounds-foot of torque. Upgrade to the 3.6-liter VR6 engine to get up to 276 horsepower and 266 pounds-foot of torque.

Both engines have an eight-speed automatic transmission and offer front-wheel drive as standard with an optional all-wheel drive system available. The Atlas can also give drivers excellent fuel consumption for a vehicle in this class. The EPA-rated fuel economy is 18 miles per gallon city and 25 miles per gallon highway.

Enormous Interior

The Atlas is made to fit everyone while keeping it comfortable. The Atlas seats up to seven people, and the third row easily fits three car seats. If you’d prefer, you can opt to have second-row captains seats instead of a three-seat bench.

The Atlas also makes sure there’s space for everyone’s stuff. There are 17 cup holders, USB ports around the vehicle for charging devices, and 98.6 cubic feet of space. The best part is the flexibility of how you store things. You can put down entire rows of seats, or just one. The second and third rows fold down completely flat to allow you to pack the vehicle easily.

Safety Features

The Atlas has tons of safety features such as post-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, a parking assistant, forward collision prevention, blind-spot monitoring, and lane keeping assist. The Atlas also comes standard with LED headlights and available LED tail lights to help you see everything clearly no matter what the weather conditions are.

The Atlas also has front and rear crumple zones which help absorb crash energy. There is a rigid safety cage around the cabin which helps deflect that crash energy away from vehicle occupants. The high-strength steel used on the exterior body panels adds additional strength to the vehicle.

Top Technology

The Atlas is packed with technology features that enhance your entire driving experience. The cockpit is not your usual cluster of information. Instead, it is displayed on a 12.3 inch digital, high-resolution screen.

The system can store the personal settings of up to four drivers to ensure that everyone using the vehicle has a customized driving experience. The display also shows your own navigation view so that you relax and enjoy the journey.

The Atlas offers drivers the option to have the VW Car-Net Security and Service package. This allows you to download an app which tracks where you parked your car, whether or not you locked your doors, or calls for help in case of an emergency.

The 2018 VW Atlas is an SUV that will take you, your family, and all of your cargo wherever you want to go in comfort, style, and safety.
