Halloween is an exciting time of year. Whether you’re looking for a haunted house, a spooky show, or a place to head in your best costume, there’s an event for you in Raleigh.
1. McKee Cornfield Maze
For some family fun, head to McKee Cornfield. There are over 4-miles of pathway to get lost in, including a haunted trail that’s sure to get the goosebumps going. Besides a maze, you can also go pumpkin picking, go on a hayride, feed the farm animals, or simply relax and enjoy the live music on the weekends. There’s a playground for kids and plenty of maple ice cream for both young and old to enjoy.
2. Halloween Express Train
Ride the Halloween Express Train on the New Hope Valley Railway through the woods of Chatham and Wake Counties. You can ride the train on the last two Monday’s in October from 4-7:45 p.m. Expect to be frightened by witches, ghosts, and ghouls during the trip.
3. Scary Movies at KoKa Booth Amphitheatre
To get you in the mood for Halloween, KoKa Booth Amphitheatre is featuring scary movies from October 26-30. They’re showing everything from thrillers like “Poltergeist” to kid friendly flicks like “Monsters, Inc.” All movies start at 7 p.m. and tickets are only $3.
4. Homegrown Halloween
Homegrown Halloween in Chapel Hill is perhaps one of the most infamous Halloween parties in the Triangle. Each year the street party takes place on Halloween night along Chapel Hill’s Franklin Street and has almost 30,000 visitors. It is a family friendly place and alcohol is not permitted at the festivities, but surrounding bars and restaurants are open late serving hungry and thirsty customers throughout the event. If you head here, expect crowds and be sure to wear a costume!
5. Masquerading Angels Ball
The Masquerading Angels Ball is a yearly Halloween event held the last weekend of October. It’s a formal black-tie, ballgown event that usually takes place in a casino and has a silent auction, live band, and local celebrities in attendance. All money raised at the event goes to help families of babies who are born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.
6. Midtown Pumpkin Palooza
Midtown Pumpkin Palooza is a fun event in downtown Raleigh that takes place in late October each year. It’s a fall festival and fundraiser for different charities each year. This year, proceeds will support Teen Cancer America. Be a judge in the chili cook-off to help decide which restaurant makes the best chili in Raleigh or take part in the mystery scavenger hunt and win up to $1,000 in prizes.
There’s always a kid’s zone with face painting, craft activities, and inflatable obstacle courses to keep them busy. If you’re kid free, test your knowledge in the adult trivia challenge. No one is left out at this festival, there’s even a doggy costume contest.
